PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Thousand Oaks Dance Program is offered as an alternative to Physical Education and is open to both male and female students. Nobody is denied a spot in the class. The skill levels range from beginner to advanced with a total of six classes run each semester. In place for twenty years, the program is financed primarily by parental and small business donations.

The program currently boasts of over two hundred and fifty dancers enrolled annually. Since the program’s inception, approximately 3200-3500 dancers have gone through the program resulting in seven National Team Championships. Many of our former dancers have gone on to dance in college as well as professionally. Several of them are now coaching other local high school dance teams (Newbury Park, and Westlake to name a few).

The program provides a strict and regimented approach to the classic dance techniques of Ballet, Jazz, and Lyrical as well as contemporary dances of Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. We dance at school games, Dance Clinics to local youths, Dance Rally’s, Spirit Days, as well as local and National competitions. This is a year round commitment which begins in early July and completes with the school year in June.
